A fine George IV period mahogany mantel / library clock;  the eight-day fusee timepiece movement with an arched silvered dial, inscribed GRAVELL & SON / Charterhouse Square / LONDON 4104.  In a richly coloured case with canted corners and an angled ebony-faced pediment top and acroteria at each corner.  Circa 1825 - 30

The firm of Gravell and Son was working from Charterhouse Square from 1783 to 1825 and continued as William Gravell & Son, London until 1863.  William Jnr was Master of the Clockmakers’ Company from 1840 – 50.
