GIII mahogany Pembroke table.  Of exceptional colour and patina, this rare drop-leaf table is closely similar to a design published in Thomas Chippendale’s “The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker’s Director” of 1754, plate number 33.  The rectangular top with shaped leaves on chamfered legs connected by a pierced cross-stretcher and fitted with a drawer and a corresponding dummy; with original axe-drop handles.  Circa 1760

Condition Where the stretchers cross in the middle, a shaped metal plate has been applied underneath; it has been there a long time.
