George III period mahogany tallboy / chest on chest

George III period mahogany chest-on-chest; of good quality and mellow colour, with two short and three long drawers above three long drawers in the low-waisted base, surmounted by an elaborately moulded cornice with blind fret and arcaded panels in the Gothic taste.  All the drawers are lined with fine wainscot oak and have original brass swan’s-neck handles.  A ‘secret’ compartment is concealed within the cornice.  Circa 1770
