Fine Regency period gilt and ebonised overmantel mirror in the classical Egyptian taste; the original plate with aged shadowy silvering, in a frame with an ebonised inner slip, flanked by acanthus-leaf shafts with sphinx's heads and human feet; with a bold Greek key pattern frieze and a cavetto-and-ball cornice. Circa 1815A good example of an early 19th century over-mantel mirror being slightly smaller proportions than is often the case.
