Fine George IV period mahogany bookcase-cabinet of high quality and narrow proportions; the lower part fitted with six small mahogany-lined drawers with finely-detailed ebony-strung top edges and brass flush-fitting handles, above a sliding tray and a deep cellarette-drawer, enclosed by a pair of doors below two deep frieze-drawers. The upper part with three adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of four-pane glazed doors with arched bases and headings. The upper and lower sections flanked by paired spirally turned pilasters and the whole with split bobbin-turned mouldings. Surmounted by a deep frieze with a (detachable) angled pediment with carved decoration; on boldly carved paw front feet. The back of the bookcase is lined with pale moiré fabric and the doors, perhaps originally but no longer, lined with pleated fabric.
