Walnut writing table with ormolu mounts and details with inset leather top and a single drawer on one side standing on shaped cabriole legs onto cabochon feet with a maker’s label underneath the drawer:

“G Trollope & Sons*, 15 Parliament Street”

*Trollope & Sons were one of the largest and best-known makers of furniture in London during the reign of Queen Victoria.  Originally based in Parliament Street, London, the company was registered in 1843  as ‘George Trollope and Sons’ and their showroom opened in Halkin Street Belgravia.  By 1870 they had opened at Grosvenor Street and High street Vauxhall.  They exhibited at the 1851 Crystal Palace Exhibition and at the 1862 International Exhibition.
