Fine early 19th century mahogany bow-fronted stick barometer by J Smith, Royal Exchange, London; the richly-coloured casework with a glazed silvered register, a mercury thermometer and an urn-shaped cistern-cover, surmounted by a swan's-neck pediment.

James Smith is known to have been working at North Gate, Royal Exchange from 1815 to 1828
